Zero-click search

A search result where the person gets their answer directly on the search results page or from an AI-generated summary, without clicking through to any website.

Zero-click search has grown alongside AI Overviews and chat-based answer engines, which increasingly synthesize an answer from several sources rather than sending the searcher to a single page. For B2B publishers and practitioners, this changes what counts as a successful piece of content. A page can influence a buyer’s decision, and even get cited by name inside an AI answer, without ever registering a visit in traditional web analytics. The practical response is not to fight zero-click behavior but to structure content so that when it does get pulled into a zero-click answer, it is accurately represented and attributed, through clear, self-contained facts, direct quotes, and structured data that make a page easy for an answer engine to summarize correctly.
